Novel highly selective potentiometric sensor based on aquadichloro(E)−2-((1-(thiophen-2-yl)ethylidene)-amino)phenol manganese(II)trihydrate as an anion carrier. The thiocayanate electrode displayed a very high selectivity compared with others inorganic anions. Different sensors plasticized PVC membranes have been investigated. construction containing different amounts of ionophore and without additives. pH over 3.5–6.5 range has studied. Optimized membrane included 66 mg PVC, 132 o-nitrophenyloctylether, 10 mol % tetrakis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl borate 2% [Mn(C 12 H 11 NOS)(Cl 2 )(H O)]· 3H O. optimized exhibit Nernstian response for thiocyanate through linear concentration ranging from (5 × −8 to 9.06 −1 M) detection limit 3 M slope −57.7 mV decade , the measurement carried out in acetate buffer 4.7. time <10 s lifetime more than 6 weeks. proposed was effectively utilized estimation saliva sample, results revealed valid agreement reference colorimetric method.
